As I scrawled overdue thank you notes
that were exactly one month late
I alternated between coffee and mimosas. 

My friend stirred breakfast potatoes
while a pan of eggs and veggies cooked in the oven.

It was cold outside, 
but we were cozy and warm.
Wrapped up inside, safe from snow.

With pleasant music chiming along in the background. 

Here is another form of contentment.
